My first Seabourn Cruise, and it wont be my last!
My first Seabourn Cruise, and it wont be my last!
My first Seabourn cruise completed, and well and truly enjoyed! In fact, it well and truly exceeded expectations on all levels.
Seabourn’s ‘Dalmatian Coast’ itinerary took in colourful Mediterranean ports starting in Athens, off the beaten track Greek islands, through Croatia, stopping into Dubrovnik, across to the eastern Italy port of Brindisi ending in the spectacular city of Venice.
Being a smaller ship, Encore is able to dock in, or much closer to, the featured ports than the larger vessels. Most were shore disembarkations, with two tender landings on comfortable, stable boats. And no queues!
As the ‘Virtuoso Voyages’ host onboard, I was charged with being point of contact for all guests booked by a Virtuoso advisor. These 55 Virtuoso voyagers were treated to a private welcome cocktail reception, additional amenities including extra on-board credit, and the option of a private hosted shore tour. And, their own personal go-to Virtuoso person!
Absolute highlights were the staff and the food. Impeccable service and the highest quality meals equal to or above anywhere we’ve enjoyed land side. Menus altered daily with a global influence, varied wines pared with meals, and plenty of curated poolside cocktails! All dining is included, as are beverages and
This is small ship luxury cruising with only 300 suites in 8 categories. From lead in suites with spacious bedrooms, lots of cupboard space, walk in wardrobe, lounge area with full sofa, the necessary desk (if no option to escape work!), plus a full bathroom with dual sinks, bath and separate shower, to expansive elegant penthouses. Each category has a balcony of varying sizes to take in the spectacular views passing by, or dine privately with room service – all included of course.
A wonderful mix of international guests enjoyed the spoils of luxury cruising, from families with older adult kids, mother-daughter groups, couples celebrating milestones, friends enjoying special birthdays, to more mature guests relishing in the ease of unpacking once for a multi stop holiday.
Being an active and inquisitive traveller, what I particularly enjoyed about the itinerary is the time on shore to explore the destinations. Docking each morning by 8-9am, and departing after 5pm, right in town, meant you could enjoy excursions, extensive tours or long walks, shop and eat local with ease. Returning to your home-away-from-home, welcomed by a warm personal greeting from wonderful staff, to refresh and enjoy the evenings choice of restaurants and entertainment, and sip champagne whilst watching the sun set as you move off to the next exciting port stop.
Seabourn offers countless itineraries from Africa, to Antarctica, Caribbean to the South Pacific, the Mediterranean to Northern Europe and to our very own Kimberley’s. Ships specific to the destination offer varied durations and directions, be that ocean cruising, or expedition cruises to the polar regions.
This cruise exceeded all expectations and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend, even to those who are perhaps reluctant cruisers, it really won’t disappoint. And it wont be my last!
