Your special private air tour is on a Cessna Caravan so you can experience the Outback & Great Barrier Reef with a bird’s eye view of the incredible changing colours of Australia’s stunning coast to the rugged outback – and back!  Flying west over vast farmlands, winding rivers and channel country enjoying two nights Outback before landing back on the stunning Great Barrier Reef’s Lady Elliot Island.

Departing from the Gold Coast or Maroochydore, fly west over 2,000km into the Outback dropping into Charleville, Birdsville and Longreach. These iconic Australian towns give guests a true taste of Outback Queensland.

Charleville is home to Queensland’s Royal Flying Doctor Service base and museum which you can visit on the first day.   Flying further over the famous Cooper Creek you’ll arrive at the historical town of Birdsville and the iconic Birdsville Hotel, where you can enjoy a traditional Aussie pub meal.  The hotel was built in 1884 and stands a symbol of the spirit and character of the Outback.  The dusty weathered sandstone walls have been a welcome refuge for travellers for over 130 years having endured floods, fires and even cyclones.

Enjoy a sundowner in the Simpson Desert atop Big Red where you can watch the sunset from one of the tallest of the some 1100 vivid red sand dunes.  Seriously Instagram worthy views!

Following the overnight stay at the Birdsville Hotel and a scrumptious breakfast, your private air tour continues north following the Diamantina River arriving into Longreach.  Here you can explore the wide collection of aircraft at the award winning Qantas Founders Museum airpark with its impressive collection of artifacts and home to a Boeing 707, Boeing 747, DC-3 and Super Constellation.

This evening offers an Outback Pioneer Bush by Night Experience aboard a double decker bus.  The magnificent dome of stars, that is only visible far from the city lights, is a highlight for many.

It wouldn’t be an Outback tour without a campfire, and here you have the chance to enjoy a fire side two course dinner before spending the evening at the rustic Salt Bush Retreat.

On the return journey, swap your boots for reef shoes and explore Lady Elliot Island on the Southern Great Barrier Reef.  The flight will provide spectacular scenic views of the incredible Southern Great Barrier Reef flying low over Heron Island and Lady Musgrave Island before the Lady Elliot Island stop.

Your Lady Elliot experience provides a private glass bottom boat and guided snorkelling tour, take a swim or reef walk at low tide before your flight back to Maroochydore or the Gold Coast.
