Most memorable family holiday at Castaway Island

Most memorable family holiday at Castaway Island

VINAKA VAKALEVU for arranging our amazing holiday!  It was fabulous!  The people on Castaway Island were so welcoming and beautiful.  The waters were the most amazing colours – as were the reefs… we snorkeled, we fished (both hand lining and we chartered a game fishing for a morning), jet skied, swam, and drank many, many, MANY cocktails!  The sunsets were fantastic, and the Island is just simply magical. We certainly noticed the difference between Castaway Island and the Radisson.  Although the staff at Raddison were still as happy and friendly – there’s a difference… the Radisson was almost ‘commercial’ after Castaway…  the seclusion of Castaway is what we loved.  Limited people, quiet, secluded, hammocks spotted around, beautiful beaches….Radisson was much busier although the restaurants were brilliant. But the staff!!  They made our holiday… Philip ended up going and saying goodbye to some of them when they were leaving for their days off!!   It was amazing how much they remembered about us in such a short time.  Oscar, Eli, Bokini, Sam, Ashien (not sure if that’s how you spell her name), Tom, Jo, Solei… just to name a few…  Bokini is a new bartender – and as soon as we sat down on the 3rd night for our espresso martinis… he started heading towards us – saw us, then just turned around and went straight back to the espresso machine to start making them… haha!!  And their ready smile and laughter!!  We may not have always understood what they were saying… but their laughter was simply infectious and just made you start smiling or laughing with them.  It’s such a big, honest laugh. Once we settled in – on Sunday – just completely relaxed and chilled out.  We couldn’t believe how fast we relaxed.  We loved the Island and weren’t ready to leave the surroundings. It was the memorable family holiday we were hoping it would be.  The number of people we talked to who just keep going back year after year, spoke volumes for it.  Philip and I hope to go back again – even if it’s just him and I. Thank you so much for recommending Castaway, and thank you so much for your help from suggesting it, arranging it, putting up with all my questions, and answering them quickly.  Would have no trouble recommending yourself, Island Travel Specialists, or Castaway Island, to anyone and everyone….  I actually miss hearing someone say ‘Bula’ to me!!! Again…. VINAKA VAKALEVU!!!
